Bendy Biscotti
Lucas popped out of Biscotti on February 5. Eight and a half weeks after that momentous occasion Biscotti went snowshoeing for the first time since last March. She summited Hollyburn Peak in just under an hour and twenty minutes, and she celebrated that athletic feat with another athletic feat:

05:44 - Wake up.
06:12 - Leave the house, and put gear and dogs in Tracker.
06:38 - Take Cypress exit off the highway; learn that the road up is closed until 07:00. D'oh.
07:01 - Stop at Cypress road viewpoint to take pictures.
07:20 - Begin snowshoeing.
08:23 - Reach the peak! There's no wind and it's sunny and clear. Nobody else around.
09:26 - While descending, see first person since Cypress road viewpoint.
09:55 - Return to car.
10:34 - Pull into carport at home.
A week later - upload 97 photos and 3 videos to a flickr set.

It was 4am
Activated the house alarm. Exited through the back door. Remembered that the back stairs are temporarily absent. Returned inside. Headed down the stairs to
the basement. Halfway down, remembered that the car is parked in front. Returned upstairs. Waited for the alarm to reach the end of its countdown. Deactivated the house alarm. Reactivated the house alarm. Exited through the front door. Went to work.

Paradise, Baby, Paradise
I learned something very interesting yesterday. While uploading Vegas pics (and now vids!) to flickr, I was googling various Vegas sites and somehow found myself on the wikipedia page for the city of Paradise, Nevada. According to said webpage, Paradise contains McCarran International Airport and most of the Las Vegas Strip, including well-known hotels such as Caesars Palace and MGM Grand. Therefore, many tourists visiting "Las Vegas" actually spend most of their time in Paradise, not Las Vegas proper. How many of you were aware of that? Yeah, I thought so. To see pics and vids of our Vegas/Paradise trip, click here.

The Blog Show Winner!
Once upon a time I held a contest: The Blog Show. The draw date was six months ago today, and a couple of weeks after the draw the winner, Jason, received his grand prize. Yesterday I received an email from Jason, with pictures attached of the on-the-spot prize (toy cat) and the grand prize (bottle of wine).
Here's what Jason had to say, followed by the pics..
Hey Rob,
Thanks much -- we enjoyed the bottle, and still hide the cat in unsuspecting places around the apartment for each other. :D
Cheers lad!
